Welcome Abigail Alyssa Eagy!

What a great God we have! In just two years five months (or so!) He has given us three wonderful children, the newest one arriving just this last Saturday night - miss Abigail Alyssa!
This labor started out a lot like Gabriel’s. Early Saturday morning around 1:00a.m. Katie started to have very consistent and decently strong contractions. At noon the contractions were still coming very consistent in strength and about 3 minutes apart. Since they had been so consistent all day / night long we decided to stop by the hospital and have Katie checked out just to make sure if things were progressing smoothly (for those of you who haven’t had a baby recently it is a fairly normal thing anymore to just stop by the maternity ward and they will check you out so you know what is going on!)
We’re still not sure if that was a smart move or not! When we arrived at 12:00p.m. Katie was dilated to 2.5cm and had contractions every 3 minutes. Usually the hospital won’t admit you until you are at least 4cm or if you are moving very quickly. But since this was Katie’s third labor, and since her contractions were so regular, the nurses and on-call doctor, Dr. Charme, were concerned that Katie was going to go into full labor “any moment”. So from 12:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. we were just “under observation”. We wandered the hallways, bounced on the birthing ball, and Katie was checked every hour or so. Every time the nurses checked on her and looked at the machine that recorded her contractions they all said, “We need to frame this - these are perfect contractions!”.
At 5:00p.m. Katie was finally admitted. She was dilated to 4cm and the contractions were still coming regularly. For two more hours Katie continued to do what she could do to make things progress. And just like the previous births, things were going forward, but not too fast. So at 7:00p.m. Dr. Charme (who ended up being our doctor for the rest of the night) broke Katie’s water. And, like all her other pregnancies, this really started the contractions moving into full active labor!
From 7:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. Katie progressed from 4cm to 8cm. As a husband who has seen two other labors, I was very impressed with my wife! The nurses actually had a very hard time assessing how much pain / how hard the contractions were because Katie had such a good demeanor. I teased Katie that she needed to start showing some “grimaces” so people knew how difficult this was for her!
At about 10:00p.m. Katie was trying so hard to not have an epidural (I don’t know why myself, but she really wanted to do it ‘all natural’) but was beginning to think that she would maybe prefer one. Fortunately for her goals, at that point the nurses had to start her on a saline drip and get an entire liter in her before they could call the anesthesiologist - and she wasn’t going to have enough time for that to happen!
So with no epidural Katie started pushing at 10:43p.m. and two contractions later at 10:45p.m. Abigail Alyssa Eagy was born!
We are so thankful to our Lord for the blessing of having three beautiful and healthy children - and we are so pleased to have Abigail with us. Thank you for all your prayers and love and support! Blessings!

Hey, high-tech Eagy’s!
It was wonderful to read your story - I’m so proud of you, Katie! As someone who has also had three children, but much farther apart, and an epidural *every* time, my hat’s off to you!
She is just beautiful, and so is your sweet family, and we’re so thankful that everything went well. Blessings!
