Abigail is 2 months old!

by Eagy Family on Jun.29, 2007, under Family

Our little Abigail Alyssa (sometimes referred to as Miss Abs at our house) is 2 months old! God has been good to us…she’s exactly what we needed in a third child. She’s abundantly sweet, happy, a great napper, efficient eater (it only takes her roughly 5-10 minutes to eat every 3 hours), easy to please, loves to be held and cuddled, and she’s gracious to her siblings when they’re loud or needing a lot of attention. We are having so much fun with her! She’s cooing, smiling and sometimes it looks like she wants to bust up laughing - we know it’s in there, she just has to learn how to make it happen!

She just had her 2 month old wellness check up today. At the end of the visit, the doctor’s final words were: “She’s disgustingly healthy. Good job, mom.” Here are her stats:

  • Weight - 11 lbs, 7 oz - 70th percentile
  • Height - 22 1/8 inches - 40th percentile
  • Head - 16 inches - 85th percentile (she’s following right along with her siblings sporting the big Eagy head!)

She also got her first immunizations so she’s not feeling up to par tonight. We’d love extra prayers on her behalf that she doesn’t have any adverse reactions to the shots.

Here’s a new picture of the little lady.

Have a fun weekend, everyone!

The Blazing Center

by Eagy Family on Jun.28, 2007, under Family

“You may not be sure that you want your life to make a difference. Maybe you don’t care very much whether you make a lasting difference for the sake of something great. You just want people to like you. If people would just like being around you, you’d be satisfied. Or if you could just have a good job with a good wife, or husband, and a couple of good kids and a nice car and long weekends and a few good friends, a fun retirement, and a quick and easy death, and no hell - if you could have all that (even without God) - you would be satisfied. That is a tragedy in the making. A wasted life.” John Piper, from his book Don’t Waste Your Life

I am often in awe of how John Piper’s writing can call me up and spur me on. If you’ve never heard of Piper, or haven’t read his books or listened to his sermons online, he’s well worth listening to. He has a website at www.desiringgod.org if you want to check it out.

That said, I’m reading the book mentioned above. The last chapter discussed boasting only in the cross, which is the blazing center of the glory of God. This was a cool chapter because one thing I know…outside of Christ, I do nothing with a pure, sinless heart. Everything I do outside of Christ is meant to glorify ME. But now that I am in Christ, my daily battle is to constantly examine my heart and decide if what I’m doing is to bring glory to God or myself.

Ryan brought up a good example just a minute ago because I called him to chat about this concept. A person may volunteer at the soup kitchen feeding the homeless every week, and still be doing it to bring himself glory, not to glorify God. So, my friends, this is heavy on my heart - I want God to be glorified through me. I pray God allows me to be sanctified more and more every day, so I can portray Christ to my kids, my husband and those around me.

To do this, I need Christ to be the BLAZING CENTER of my heart (because without him, I’m trying to glorify myself), my hands (in how I give my children grace and patience), my eyes (to see others as Christ sees them), my mouth (to speak truth to others) and may it all be to the glory of God. May I remember continually the grace I received at the cross!

“Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.” Romans 5:2-4

Photo of all 3 Eagy kids

by Eagy Family on Jun.21, 2007, under Family

This was not an easy endeavor! After MANY tries and some hilarious bloopers along the way, here’s our official first photo with all three kids in it:

No, Abigail is not sleeping…it was just bright outside so she’s closing her eyes. They are squished onto one side of the glider on our swing set (meant for one little person, but they’re all little so it worked). My babes are pretty cute, if you ask me! Oh, and Ryan is holding onto Abigail - just in case you were worried she was falling.

Hey, everyone - have a good weekend!

Happy Papa’s Day

by Eagy Family on Jun.18, 2007, under Family

It must sound like I say this a lot, but I have an amazing husband. One worthy of celebrating every day. Ryan lavishes love on his kids daily, winning their hearts and pointing them to Christ. When I tend to complain about how difficult a given day is, Ryan walks it out with grace and patience. It’s evident - Hannah, Gabe and Abigail all adore him. When he’s home, Papa is the ONE they want (well, Abigail prefers Mama when she’s hungry and is happy with whomever holds her). And he opens his arms to them, scoops them up, and gives them the attention they love and crave from their Papa.

It’s no surprise why they adore Ryan. Ryan’s heart is to show his family the love of Christ. He presses in when there’s an unresolved issue between us, pursuing his wife’s heart. He’s patient with Hannah and Gabe, even when it would be easy to get angry and frustrated. He is a picture of Christ for me - showing me how Christ would show grace, give us room to fail and yet consistently grab us back into himself for the love and reassurance we all need and desire. Ryan, thank you for how you have so diligently pursued God and how you love your family. You fail at times, as we all do, but you remain a steadfast picture of Christ to us. We sure love you!

Ryan received another arrow for Father’s Day from Abigail Alyssa. His verse is Proverbs 20:7:

“The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him.” Blessed are you, Ryan, for your quiver is getting more and more full as the years go by! (Psalm 127:5).

Happy Papa’s Day, Ryan!  You are the best!

Life is good.

by Eagy Family on Jun.06, 2007, under Family

It’s hard to find time to post anything these days…

I’m sure y’all understand. I really want to write somedays, and have some decent thoughts to blog about (at least in my opinion…I guess that’s what matters, right!?).

Here’s the randomness going on in my life right now:

I’m praying over what I want engraved on Ryan’s arrow for Father’s Day. You probably have heard the verse: “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth” Psalm 127:4. When Hannah was born, I started the tradition of giving Ryan an engraved arrow on the first Father’s Day after each baby was born. So, he’s gotten an engraved arrow on Father’s Day three years in a row. Maybe once Father’s Day has passed, I’ll let you know what Abigail’s arrow ends up saying. One of these years I’ll get him a quiver so he has somewhere to display them.

We’re anxiously awaiting the arrival of my good friend Dana’s baby. He or she will be making an appearance any day now.

My big brother Scott just turned 30 yesterday. That seems weird to think he’s entered his 30’s. I’m not that far behind.

I’ve been thinking about James 5:16 a lot lately: “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” I’ve even been so convicted as to REALLY want to blog about how I blew it one day - I just didn’t find the time to write about it. So don’t be surprised if soon I’m confessing and asking for prayer. I know I’ll blow it soon enough and God will make time for me to post about it. *sigh*

I’m enjoying (almost) every minute of my busy days - playing Play-Doh, imagining we’re on a school bus, doing art projects, outside with the hoses, getting to sit down and feed Abigail (the kids are learning to play nicely while Mama is busy!), and my favorite part…when Ryan comes home! I couldn’t ask for a better husband to love me and a better Papa for my children.

Life is good.

Here are a few photos of Abigail:

Enjoying her arm!

Just hanging out.

And here’s one of Gabe and one of Hannah:

Isn’t he the cutest?

Hope your week is going well! Blessings, Katie
