Abigail Alyssa

My sweet baby,

I love you, precious child! Always a smile to greet me, snuggling in close to Mama and squealing with delight all throughout the day. The time has gone too quickly - it seems like just last week we were holding you for the first time. Now six months have already gone by…and I’m overjoyed with how much I love you.

You daily live up to your name, sweet one - Abigail (Father’s Joy). I know you are a delightful joy to our Father, and also to your Papa and Mama! Every time I feel as thought I’m in a funk - impatient with your sister and brother, tired of playing the same pretend game - I can look at your darling face and you make me smile. Truly a joy, my little Abigail.

I love you, baby! Keep growing strong, learning new tricks, and bringing great joy to our family. Love, Mama

Abigail’s 6 Month Stats:

Weight: 15 lbs, 10 oz = 45% // Height: 26 1/2 inches = 75% // Head Circumference: 44 cm = 80%

She got her first taste of solid food last night. She wasn’t thrilled to say the least! We’ll work on it, babe. No hurry.

Prone to Wander

by Eagy Family on Oct.19, 2007, under Family

Sometimes a verse or phrase pops out at me and I’m challenged or refreshed in a new way. This is good stuff for today, and maybe by sharing I’ll encourage you, too. If you’re in my weekly Bible study, you know right where I’m at in my work book (right on track for the week, thank you, Jesus!).

This is a verse from the GREAT old hymn, “Come Thou Fount” (Wyeth)

“O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be! Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wand’ring heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love. Here’s my heart, O take and seal it; Seal it for thy courts above.” Well said, Wyeth.

I’ve been trying to be more aware of my heart lately - “With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments.” Psalm 119:10 Jesus wants my whole heart, not just when I happen to remember to pray, seek strength, or offer thankfulness. I’ve been praying that this change would occur in me, but I realize how prone to wandering I am!! And sometimes it’s intentional wandering - I try to muster up all the goodness I can and tackle a day on my own. Doesn’t go very well. But sometimes it’s unintentional wandering - I forget to let go and let God help me!

So although I can’t escape this sinful, selfish body and I’m often prone to wander, I’m asking God to mercifully allow me to seek Him with my whole heart more and more - so that I may bring Him all the more glory. So there you have it - what God’s teaching me today! Have a good Thursday.

New Neighbors!

by Eagy Family on Oct.01, 2007, under Family

Well, not yet. If you know me, you know I LOVE people. Family gatherings, friends, parties, my HUSBAND, my kids and pretty much anyone that wants to interact - I’d be happy to join you! I can hear Ryan laughing.

We live on a fairly busy through street. We don’t have neighbors on either side of our house, but there are a few rental houses across the street. Ya, I know…I’m getting excited about some renters moving in. Sometimes I even have to laugh at myself. The For Rent sign went down a couple of weeks ago, enhancing my excitement. Finally today, I see some people cleaning the inside of the quaint little house. Looks like we’ll have neighbors (temporary, probably…but neighbors nonetheless) soon!

First things that go through my mind: What do I have in the pantry that I can bake to bring over (Do people still do this? I feel a little weird ringing the doorbell with a plate of cookies but it’s always my first thought.)? Will they have any kids? Is it another stay at home mom? Do they know Jesus? Will they have an annoying dog, loud cars, loud parties, or worse (horrible of me, I know)?

So before I go baking cookies, I’m reminded of my most important job - praying their hearts will be found as fertile soil, pleasing to Jesus and ones chosen by God to bring glory to Himself. “As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the Word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” Matthew 13:23

So before I put the kids down for naps, we prayed for these people we don’t know yet. We prayed for an opportunity to share Jesus with them. I’m sure God will provide one. And I can’t wait to meet them!
