New Neighbors!

Well, not yet. If you know me, you know I LOVE people. Family gatherings, friends, parties, my HUSBAND, my kids and pretty much anyone that wants to interact - I’d be happy to join you! I can hear Ryan laughing.
We live on a fairly busy through street. We don’t have neighbors on either side of our house, but there are a few rental houses across the street. Ya, I know…I’m getting excited about some renters moving in. Sometimes I even have to laugh at myself. The For Rent sign went down a couple of weeks ago, enhancing my excitement. Finally today, I see some people cleaning the inside of the quaint little house. Looks like we’ll have neighbors (temporary, probably…but neighbors nonetheless) soon!
First things that go through my mind: What do I have in the pantry that I can bake to bring over (Do people still do this? I feel a little weird ringing the doorbell with a plate of cookies but it’s always my first thought.)? Will they have any kids? Is it another stay at home mom? Do they know Jesus? Will they have an annoying dog, loud cars, loud parties, or worse (horrible of me, I know)?
So before I go baking cookies, I’m reminded of my most important job - praying their hearts will be found as fertile soil, pleasing to Jesus and ones chosen by God to bring glory to Himself. “As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the Word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” Matthew 13:23
So before I put the kids down for naps, we prayed for these people we don’t know yet. We prayed for an opportunity to share Jesus with them. I’m sure God will provide one. And I can’t wait to meet them!

I totally take cookies to all the neighbors. When we moved in, I took them cookies to meet them.
The kiddos take tomatoes, goodies, lovely drawn pictures….
Make some cookies, take the kiddos, and go meet and greet!!!!
I love knowing that I can run to any of the 6-7 neighbors I know and ask for help or anything!

Great thoughts, Katie! Such a good example to your children about being a witness in this world - not hiding away in our homes from it!
I can smell the cookies already!
