Great Week!

Today Gideon is 5 days old. It’s hard to believe it’s only been five days…because he’s been kissed hundreds of times, peeked at, poked at, loved on and been called “a little cutie” (by Hannah) sooooo many times already! All of Gideon’s siblings instantly loved him which is so fun to watch!

Yesterday Gideon saw our pediatrician. He’s maintaining his weight really well - still nine pounds exactly! He passed his check up with flying colors. Dr. Jambura (jokingly, of course) said he’s a physical prodigy. Most four day old babies can’t hold their head up for a sit up - but I guess Gideon is super buff!

He’s very happy that milk has arrived and it’s helping him to sleep longer stretches (well, at least a bit!) and he’s very content when he’s awake. We’ve heard over and over that people think he looks just like Gabe as a baby. I’ll do a separate post comparing their pictures - we think it’s pretty amazing!

We’ve been able to get out a couple of times. Outings to Burger King, a ladies Bible study today, and Carl’s Jr. to get some energy out! He was absolutely perfect each time - slept through the whole thing.

Oh, and to add to the chaos…our little man Gabe turned THREE on Tuesday the 20th! By God’s grace we had enough energy to throw a family party for him at our house that evening. Gabe was very aware that it was his big day so we’re glad we could celebrate! He was thrilled with all the attention and blessed by all the generous gifts!

I updated our Picasa family photo album with current photos. We’ll put a slide show on the blog when we get a second. Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us and bringing meals! My mom has been so good to us: stocking our house with groceries, cleaning our house, doing laundry, playing with the kids, letting mama nap and taking good care of us! Another awesome thing - Ryan has been able to be home with us this week which has been the greatest! I can never get enough of Ryan…same for the kiddos!

Everyone is doing great!

Thanks to everyone for all your prayers. Gideon and Katie have both been doing excellent!

We were able to start seeing friends and family last night starting at about 8:00 pm. It was great to see the grandmas and grandpas, and great-grandmas and great-grandpas, sisters, brothers, etc. Because it was so late, I was able to talk to our kids on the phone and let them know their baby brothers name and that he was here, but they had to go to bed and couldn’t come down right away.

Since Gideon was such a large baby, they had some special tests they had to do about every hour throughout the night to make sure he was just big, not ‘big’ because of a problem. He passed them all with flying colors! We didn’t get to sleep until about midnight, and then we were up a lot during the night. But I think adrenaline is good!

Hannah, Gabe and Abigail were able to come and hang out with us for about an hour this morning, and get to meet their little brother. They are so excited for him to be home and to examine him closer.

We spent most of today seeing more friends and family, and trying to rest in between the nurse visits. Mama and baby both took a little nap together, it was very cute!

We’ve been able to see both the NFC and AFC championship games today while lying in our room - that was fun! We are hanging out until a little after 8:00 pm tonight when they can run their last test on Gideon. Then we get to go home and sleep in our own beds. Thank you again to everyone who prayed for Katie and Gideon during the delivery! God was very good to us!

We look forward to seeing everyone soon!
